Documentary plan

Documentary plan Brief-Sunderland Culture are holding a mixed media exhibition, which will be titled 'who am i?'. The exhibition will be held at the National Glass centre and Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens. Young Practioners have been asked to explored and develop ideas for media work relating to theme of 'Regional Identity', Which explores the question 'Who am i?'.  The aim is to engage young people and to encourage them to think about and express their own regional identity. My idea My Regional Identity Project will be about being LGBT in the North East. I came about this idea because, as a queer person myself, I felt that I did not know where to turn for support or to learn about the history of queer people in the northeast.  The North East of England is very rooted in its working-class history, due to its old mining communities and shipyards. The attitudes towards queer people are unfortunately still very outdated and the culture of the northeast is ...

Analysing documentaries

Analysing Documentaries *click photos for clip of documentary* The Social Dilemma 'tech experts from silicon valley sound the alarm on the dangerous impact of social networking, which big tech use in an attempt to manipulate and influence.' The social dilemma is an expository documentary that meets a fictional subplot. It follows the tech experts of silicon valley as they explain what the biggest media companies are doing to manipulate and influence you to keep using your products. The way the documentary creates real shock value, it's dramatised in a way that really gets the audience thinking about the effects that social media has on their life. We see parts that take place in the real world, real experiences from real people talking about what it was like to work for companies such as Google, Facebook and Pinterest. We then see parts that are dramatised, fictional, a family who each deal with usage of social media in different ways. I like the way that the documentary ...

Audience Profile

Image
What is Audience Profiling Audience profiling is the process of defining exactly who your target customer is by unifying and analyzing consumer buying behaviours across multiple platforms and touchpoints. By segmenting and profiling customers into groups that all share similar behaviours, marketing campaigns can then be built around each segment to optimize the success of the campaign and improve the targeting of personalized offers and content.- https://uplandsoftware.com/bluevenn/resources/blog/a-step-to-step-guide-to-audience-profiling/ Why is it Important? Audience profiling allows for a Project/Business to be fully customised to the needs and likes of its clients which in turn drives sales and business. My main audience will be young queer people, as during my research. I found that there was a lot of support groups for older queer people in the northeast but not necessarily a lot for younger people. I hope to appeal to the audience by using experiences that they c...

Audience research pt1

Image
Audience Research   During My Pitch, I gathered a general overview of an audience for my documentary. However, I felt like in order to work out what I really need to put in/ what the audience wanted; I would need to conduct more research. The things I wanted to find out was; -The specific ages of my audiences  -The experiences of my audience -what my audience knew about LGBT support in the north east -how many people would be interested in my initial idea.  How would i gather this research? There are two ways to gather audience research; Focus group & Surveys. I decided to do the survey first as I knew it would be quick to make and give me a base to develop more in-depth questions for my focus group. What is a survey? A survey is a method of gathering information from a sample of people, traditionally with the intention of generalizing the results to a larger population. Surveys provide a critical source of data and insights for nearly everyone engaged in the informat...
